Scott Jarkoff just so happens to be the name that I have been adorned with, as fortunate or unfortunate as that may be. Since 1990 I have been living in central Japan near Yokohama, the third largest city in this island country. I am married to my wife Junko (pronounced June-koh) and have a son named Anthony.
Matt Stephens and I founded deviantART back in the summer of 2000. Please read more about the history of deviantART, and its beginnings, in the deviantART; A Little Story series of posts. So far part 1 and part 2 exist.
I currently work for a Fortune 250 company in the capacity as a contractor to the United States Navy. While I do work on a Navy base I am not in the Navy; I am a civilian. Since 2000 I have worked at the Information Technology Service Center, Far East (ITSCFE). I was initially hired as a firewall administrator and was one of the original, “founding,” members of the organization. Later, when more structure came about, I moved to the Networking department and now work in Information Assurance. Network security is, generally speaking, my main area of expertise so it made sense to ultimately be working in IA. My position entails overseeing the smooth operation of the Security Operations Center, aka SOC, which is responsible for monitoring the security of the network, among other more esoteric things.
Since around 1994 I have dabbled in web design and ran a variety of websites. The first successful website that I ran was named CyberTropix and was an MP3 “news” website. Since that day I have been involved in a number of different projects throughout the Intarweb.
Other than that I really enjoy listening to music and watching movies. In the spare moments of life I spend time with my family on small hot springs trips, eating at delicious restaurants, watching movies and just running around various parts of Tokyo.
